Fort St. John will soon benefit from a major long-term care expansion at Peace Villa, adding 84 new single-bedroom beds for seniors in the region. The business plan for the project has been approved, and construction is scheduled to start in Spring 2027, with the facility opening its doors to residents in late 2030. In addition to the new beds, the expansion will also include a 30-space adult day program and recreational spaces designed to improve the lives of seniors. The initiative is being funded by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Northern Health, and the Peace River Regional Hospital District. This expansion reflects the growing demand for senior care in the northeast, as Fort St. John continues to grow. The project is part of a larger plan to increase the number of long-term care beds in northern BC, with new facilities also planned for Prince George, Smithers, and Quesnel.
