A groundbreaking wildfire resiliency partnership has been launched in British Columbia between Innergex Renewable Energy, Strategic Natural Resource Group, and FireSwarm Solutions. The collaboration combines Indigenous leadership, environmental expertise, and next-generation drone and AI technology to strengthen wildfire response and protect clean energy infrastructure and nearby communities.
Innergex, which operates and builds renewable energy projects across B.C., has long prioritized wildfire safety. With climate change increasing fire risk, the company is expanding its response strategy by working with Strategic — the largest Indigenous majority-owned natural resource consultancy in the province — and FireSwarm, a wildfire tech startup developing ultra heavy-lift autonomous drones.
These drones can fly in low visibility and at night, carrying up to 400 litres of water. They’re designed to support early wildfire suppression when crews may not be able to access dangerous or remote terrain.
Strategic will lead deployment, training, and integration with firefighting crews, while FireSwarm provides the technology and AI-powered response tools. Field testing is already underway, with plans for operational rollout in 2026.
The partnership is expected to set a new benchmark for wildfire preparedness and strengthen resilience for both critical infrastructure and vulnerable communities in B.C.
