TERRACE, BC – The power was out for a large portion of Northern BC on the afternoon of Thursday, June 12th, after a lighting strike near Vanderhoof shortly after 4:00PM had triggered a transmission circuit failure with widespread impacts.
At the peak of the outage around 4:30PM, BC Hydro reported upwards of 45,000 residents from Vanderhoof to Prince Rupert had been without power.
Crews were immediately dispatched across the region, and power was restored to most affected areas by 6pm.
