As Canada Post workers prepare for a possible strike on Friday, May 23, more than 55,000 employees could halt mail and parcel deliveries across Canada.
If a national strike is declared, all new mail will be suspended, and items already in the system will be held back until the dispute is resolved.
However, if rotating strikes take place, interruptions may be localized to specific regions.
Certain services, like social assistance cheques and live animal deliveries, will continue unaffected.
Customers who still need to ship packages can turn to private couriers such as UPS, FedEx, and DHL, although these services may be more expensive.
This is the second strike in six months, following a 32-day work stoppage in December 2024.
Workers are still fighting over issues such as part-time weekend shifts, wages, benefits, and pensions, with no final resolution yet in sight.
