Ross Champions Natural Resource Development to Boost Local Economies

Ellis Ross, Conservative candidate and former Haisla Nation Chief Councillor, continued to promote resource development as the key to economic stability in the Skeena–Bulkley Valley. At the Kitimat forum, Ross said natural gas, mining, and forestry projects are essential for creating jobs and generating government revenue. He criticized federal policies he says hinder private investment, pointing to delays in pipeline approvals and restrictions on natural resource projects. Ross advocated for faster permitting processes, better consultation with Indigenous communities, and infrastructure investments to support industry. He argued that a strong resource sector can fund healthcare, housing, and education without the need for increased taxation. Ross said communities in Northwest BC, especially Indigenous ones, have too often been left out of national prosperity and emphasized economic self-determination through responsible development. His message focused on growing the economy from the ground up and ensuring local control over projects. He positioned the Conservatives as the only party willing to unlock the region’s full economic potential.
