Lake Babine Nation is set to receive 20 new homes as part of a new on-reserve housing development in the villages of Tachet and Wit’at. The development is part of the BC Builds program, which fast-tracks affordable housing for middle-income earners. These homes will provide much-needed housing options for Lake Babine Nation members, allowing them to stay in their communities and continue to contribute to local services and culture.
The project, which also involves partnerships with BC Housing and the Province, reflects the community’s housing strategy, ensuring the new homes are both suitable and affordable. The 20 new homes, a mix of two- and four-bedroom units, are designed to meet the needs of Lake Babine families and support future growth. The BC Builds program aims to deliver more than 1,400 homes across the province, with this development adding to the ongoing efforts to address housing needs in Indigenous communities.
