The Terrace Concert Society is calling for volunteers to join its board and help keep its arts programs running. President Karen Birkedal, who has led the society for 33 years, is retiring and stresses the importance of fresh faces to fill key roles such as marketing, grant writing, and booking. Without new volunteers, the society could face closure, leaving the community without affordable live performances. The society, which has operated for 55 years, provides a variety of shows including performances by Juno and Grammy-winning artists. However, rising costs for artists and travel are making it harder to keep ticket prices low. Volunteers play a vital role in managing events and securing community support. With its annual general meeting set for June 10, the society encourages anyone interested in helping to step forward before then.
