Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision Near Dunkley Prompts Single Lane Alternating Traffic on Highway 97 as Police Investigate

Highway 97 is currently down to single lane alternating traffic near Dunkley, following a fatal two-vehicle collision from early this morning.

Quesnel RCMP responded to the collision between a tractor truck and a pick-up truck at around 4:00 this morning.

Officers had the driver of the tractor trailer transported to hospital with minor injuries, but the driver of the pick-up was declared dead at the scene.

With no fire protection in the area, crews from Dunkley Lumber were able to attend the scene to extinguish the fire which sparked on collision.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, and the highway will remain under alternative traffic in the meantime.
