In partnership with Parks Canada and Kananaskis Country, the province is issuing a Special Public Avalanche Warning.
Effective immediately through May 1, a dramatic increase in temperature is expected to destabilize snowpacks.
Beacuse of that, they expect any possible avalanches to pose a significant danger, being large in size and running into valley bottoms.
Any recreational backcountry users are advised to stick to simple, low angle terrain and avoid all overhead avalanche hazards.
They are also advised to carry all essential rescue gear like transceivers, probes, and shovels, and check the avalanche forecast.
