BC has introduced the Food Processing Growth fund to support food security and help local food processors.
The fund aims to promote economic growth, increase food production, and ensure food security by helping established BC businesses expand.
Eligible recipients include food, beverage and seafood processors, commercial kitchens and food hubs, and industry groups.
A $20 million investment will support recipients through upgraded production and storage facilities, new product development, specialized training to work with new technologies and robotics, and the hiring of specialized staff.
While businesses must make at least $500,000 in annual revenue to apply, the Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC also plan to launch an additional fund this summer for those who don’t meet that criteria.
