A report from the Auditor General of BC has provided 7 recommendations on the B.C. Public Service Agency’s diversity and inclusion strategy.
The PSA’s Where We All Belong strategy aimed to ensure it’s workforce reflects everyone including Indigenous people, the LGBTQ plus community, minorities and people with disabilities.
Audited from January 2018 through November 2022, the report finds that although the strategy included goals, outcomes, and a general timeline, it lacked detail to support implementation.
It also found that although the PSA identified risks like scope, resource limits, and resistance to change, they had no strategies to handle those risks.
Recommendations in the report include monitoring and measuring staff implementation of the strategy, documenting the responsibilities of both staff and ministries, and designing a framework for risk mitigation.
Accepting all recommendations, the PSA also expects to start measuring the strategies effectiveness in the summer of 2023.
