Unionized support staff working in all 60 of BC’s school districts have now ratified new collective bargaining agreements with the province.
More than 40,000 employees are covered under 69 newly ratified agreements reached through the province’s Shared Recovery Mandate.
They cover a range of K-12 workers, including education assistants, Indigenous support workers, clerical workers, custodians, and more.
Retroactive to last July, the first year of the three year agreement will net workers a wage increase of 25 cents per hour, plus 3.24 percent.
In year two, employees will see a flat increase of 5.5 percent, plus a potential cost-of-living adjustment of up to 6.75 percent.
Year three will garner a 2 percent flate wage increase, plus a maximum adjustment of 3 percent.
Part of the agreement also includes just over $1 million in annual funding to fund learning opportunities for support staff.
