BC is removing age restrictions from a program which waives post-secondary tuition fees for former youth in care.
In 2017, the Province introduced the Tuition Waiver Program for former youth in care between the ages of 19 and 26.
As of August 1st of this year, the age restriction will be eliminated, opening the program up to approximately 1,200 new students.
Eligible individuals include: those who spent at least 24 months in any legal care status, turned 19 in legal care, were adopted, or were part of the Child in Home of a Relative Program.
You must also be currently attending a qualified post-secondary institution at an undergraduate level as a full or part-time student.
In addition to waiving tuition, the program will also make grants of up to $3,500 available to cover additional education expenses.
