A new collective bargaining agreement has been ratified between the province and the Community Health Bargaining Association.
Negotiated with the Health Employers Association of BC, the agreement covers roughly 21,700 unionized health care support workers.
They come from a variety of settings, including private, group and community living homes, child development centres, mental health facilities, and more.
Under the three year agreement, retroactive to last April, workers will receive a wage increase of 25 cents per hour plus 3.24 percent in year one.
Year two will net a 5.5 percent increase plus a cost-of-living adjustment of up to 6.75 percent, and year three will garner a 2 percent increase plus a max adjustment of 3 percent.
Other measures in the agreement aim to improve the recruitment and retention of employees in the sector.
