Interior Health has signed a contract which will see redevelopment work at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital pick up this spring.
Graham Design Builders LP has been selected to undertake the multi-phase project to expand and modernize the Williams Lake-based hospital.
Phase one will see the construction of a new three storey addition, while phase two will cover renovations to the existing facility.
Combined, the two phases will add 25 new in-patient beds for a total of 53, and new emergency, mental health, substance abuse, and surgical departments.
Expansions will also be made to the ambulatory care, oncology, maternity, and women’s health units.
Work on phase one will get underway this spring, and is expected to wrap-up in the fall of 2026, afterwhich phase two will pick up.
Overall, the project is expected to be completed in early 2029, with a budget of $366 million, nearly $150 million more than 2021 estimates.
