An avalanche roughly 40 kms south of Tatla Lake from this weekend has claimed the lives of two backcountry skiers.
Avalanche Canada says the pair had used snowmobiles to get the east-facing slope of Potato Peak, before switching over to skis.
They say strong winds in the area then forced a Size 2 deep slab slide, which would engulf the skiers, ultimately leading to their deaths.
Search crews would later recover their bodies.
BC has now seen a total of 7 avalanche-related deaths this year, in less than two months.
