Survivors, supporters, and advocates all gathered in Vancouver today for the 32nd annual Women’s Memorial March.
Each year, the walk draws in thousands to commemorate and honour murdered and missing Indigenous women, girls, 2 spirit, and LGBTQ+ people.
It also serves as an opportunity to heal and provide support for the families of those impacted by the on-going crisis.
Following the March, the Assembly of First Nations will host a three-day gathering to bring people together to share support.
But, the gathering will also feature meetings to discuss the progress made to address the tragedy to date.
It will feature updates from both the AFN and Ottawa on the implementation of the MMIWG Inquiry’s Calls for Justice, and National and First Nations Action Plans.
