Northern Health is warning the public to protect their personal information after reports of suspicious phone calls appearing to come from the health authority.
Officials say some callers are falsely claiming to represent Northern Health.
If you receive an unexpected call, you’re urged to verify who you’re speaking with before sharing any personal details like your address or banking information, or before making any purchases or donations.
Northern Health says if you’re unsure, contact the health authority directly to confirm whether the call is legitimate.
They’re also encouraging residents to follow guidance from the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre always verify that an organization is legitimate before giving out personal information or money.
