The Thornhill Fire Department and the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine are offering residents an exciting and safe way to recycle their Christmas trees this holiday season. Starting Tuesday, January fifth, community members can drop off their trees at the Thornhill Fire Department from nine in the morning to four in the afternoon. If needed, firefighters will lend a hand to ensure trees are safely placed for collection.
The fun continues on Saturday, January tenth, with a community bonfire at the fire department. Families can enjoy hot chocolate, gather around fire pits to make s’mores, and watch as the collected Christmas trees are safely burned in a supervised bonfire. This event is free for everyone to attend, though organizers encourage participants to bring donations for the local food bank.
The Thornhill Fire Department emphasizes safety while creating a festive, community-focused atmosphere. Attendees are encouraged to dress for cold weather and enjoy a cozy evening with neighbors. This initiative not only provides a practical solution for Christmas tree disposal but also brings the community together for a memorable winter event.
