Premier David Eby will lead a trade mission to India from January 12th to 17th, accompanied by Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs and Economic Growth. The mission will visit major Indian cities, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru, to meet with government and business leaders and showcase British Columbia’s economic strengths.
The focus of the mission is on sustainable forestry, clean energy, responsible mining, and clean technology. India, the world’s third-largest energy consumer, presents growing demand for clean technology and resources, making it a key market for B.C. companies. The trip builds on the province’s Look West plan, which aims to double exports to non-U.S. markets over the next ten years while attracting investment and creating good-paying jobs for British Columbians.
B.C. already leads Canada in exports to India, with $1.3 billion in goods shipped in 2024. The province produces or has the potential to produce 19 critical minerals, operates 18 mines and two smelters, and ranks as the second-largest natural gas producer in Canada. By diversifying trade partnerships, B.C. hopes to reduce reliance on U.S. markets and strengthen its position as an economic leader.
The mission highlights B.C.’s innovation and sustainability, building international connections that support local jobs, investment, and long-term prosperity.
