The Conservative Party of British Columbia has formed a Leadership Election Organizing Committee to oversee the selection of its next party leader.
The committee is intended to operate as an impartial body responsible for administering the leadership race, including establishing the rules, procedures, and overall election process. Former federal Conservative Party president Scott Lamb will serve as chair.
According to the party, the committee will begin its work immediately, with plans to set the framework for the leadership contest early in the new year. The goal is to launch the election as soon as possible once those details are finalized.
The next leader of the Conservative Party of BC will also assume the role of Leader of the Official Opposition, positioning the party as a government-in-waiting. Party officials say the leadership race comes at a critical time for the province, as British Columbia faces ongoing economic and political challenges.
The committee includes a mix of elected officials, senior party leaders, and legal professionals with experience in leadership elections and governance. Several additional individuals will participate in non-voting roles, including the party’s executive director, legal counsel, and chief returning officer.
The Conservative Party of BC says further announcements, including timelines and leadership race details, will be shared with members and the public in the coming weeks.
