A snowfall warning is in effect for inland areas of the North Coast, including Stewart and Kitimat.
A prolonged period of snow is expected today and tonight, with total accumulations of 15 to 25 centimetres by Tuesday morning.
An incoming weather system combined with cold air will bring heavy snow at times. In Kitimat, snow is expected to change over to rain around midnight, while Stewart will continue to see flurries overnight.
Travel is expected to be difficult, with snow-covered roads and slippery walkways. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to prepare for rapidly changing and deteriorating conditions.
