The B.C. government says it has received more than 260 submissions from businesses since launching its Ease of Doing Business initiative in June 2025.
The initiative, supported by the EaseBiz BC online portal, invites businesses to share challenges and ideas directly with government. According to the province, most feedback has focused on reducing interprovincial trade barriers, streamlining regulations, speeding up permits and approvals, improving access to skilled labour, and updating tax policy. Submissions have also highlighted the need for increased housing investment, climate action, innovation support, and stronger supports for Indigenous businesses.
In addition to new submissions, the province has reviewed reports and open letters from business organizations. This work has resulted in a central repository of more than 700 recommendations that ministries are using to guide regulatory changes and reduce red tape.
The government says the EaseBiz BC portal will remain open to ensure businesses can continue providing feedback. Regular public updates will outline what actions are being taken in response.
The initiative aligns with B.C.’s Look West economic plan, which aims to diversify markets, strengthen the workforce, and speed up major project approvals. Recent actions supporting these goals include prompt-payment legislation for the construction sector and a new $241-million investment to expand and strengthen trades training across the province.
