North District RCMP say rumors of attempted abductions in Vanderhoof area unsubstantiated

Rumors have been circulating in the Vanderhoof area in recent days that the local RCMP had been investigating a series of attempted abductions of young women and girls from the region and had identified two east Indian men as suspects.

The North District RCMP has confirmed to CFNR News that no such investigation is underway, and that no attempted abductions had been reported to police this week in either Vanderhoof or Fort St James.

North District RCMP Media Relations Officer Corporal Madonna Saunderson confirmed that there is no active threat to the public, and that the rumors were unsubstantiated.
