Terrace is celebrating the one-year anniversary of Ksyen Regional Hospital, a modern facility that has been serving the Northwest since November 24, 2024. In its first year, the hospital has seen over 24,000 emergency room visits, providing essential care, comfort, and healing to families across the region.
The hospital sits on the traditional territory of the Tsimshian Nation and was created through nearly 25 years of advocacy, planning, and community collaboration. While the historic name Mills Memorial is no longer on the building, the legacy of Dr. Stanley Mills and his wife Edith, who laid the foundation of local healthcare, continues to be honored.
Construction began in 2021 and is nearing completion with the parking lot now finished. Northern Health extends sincere thanks to the community, partners, and taxpayers for their patience and support throughout the project.
The Chief of Staff and medical staff at Ksyen Regional Hospital also express deep gratitude to everyone who made the hospital a reality, and to the dedicated staff, physicians, and volunteers who provide care with compassion and respect every day.
Ksyen Regional Hospital is more than a building—it is a symbol of community, cultural respect, and a shared commitment to future generations. As it celebrates its first year, the hospital looks forward to continuing to serve Terrace and the Northwest for decades to come.
