BC Transit is rolling out special holiday service in Northern BC, offering residents in Quesnel and Prince Rupert more convenient and affordable travel options through December.
In Quesnel, transit will be completely free on Christmas Eve. All riders can board any route at no cost until the final bus departs at 4 p.m. BC Transit says the free-fare day is designed to support residents who may need a reliable way to finish holiday shopping, visit friends and family, or commute without the added expense. The service aims to reduce transportation barriers at a time of year when household costs often rise.
Further north, Prince Rupert is adjusting its schedule to make holiday travel easier. From December 15 to December 24, buses will operate on a Friday service schedule every day except Sunday. The expanded hours are intended to help residents manage late-day shopping, work schedules, and community events during one of the busiest stretches of the year. By offering more frequent trips, BC Transit hopes to ease congestion and provide a smoother experience for riders preparing for the holidays.
Both communities are part of a larger province-wide effort to improve transit accessibility and support local holiday traditions. BC Transit encourages passengers to check local schedules for updates as the season unfolds.
