The B.C. River Forecast Centre has issued a Flood Watch for parts of the province, including rivers and tributaries around Kitimat, with heavy rain in the forecast.
A Flood Watch means water levels are rising and could reach or exceed riverbanks, leading to possible flooding in nearby areas.
Officials are warning the public to stay back from rivers and streams, as high water can cause erosion, unstable banks, and dangerous currents.
