On Wednesday morning, October 15th, the Kitimat Ground Search and Rescue Team had been dispatched into the backcountry to rescue an injured hunter near Mount Atna’s Icy Pass
Eight GSAR members had answered the call, four of whom were helicoptered into the remote site by Summit Helicopters, where they then located the 30-year-old hunter. The man was treated by the GSAR crew at the scene, then flown back to the Kitimat Airpark where he was transferred to the care of the BC Ambulance Service.
