New youth centre offers a welcoming space for wellness, support, and connection
Carrier Sekani Family Services and Foundry Burns Lake are putting the final touches on their new youth services centre, located at 686 McPhail Road across from Lakes District Secondary School.
After five years of planning and community input, the centre will serve youth aged 12 to 24, offering five key areas of support: mental health, substance use, physical and sexual health care, peer and family support, and social services—all in one welcoming space.
Students from Lakes District Secondary toured the site last week, marking the second anniversary of the land blessing that took place in 2023.
The building includes a multipurpose room, two recreation areas, a nourish station with food and drinks, a basketball court, and an outdoor fire pit. It’s designed to create a space where young people feel welcome, valued, and inspired.
An open house takes place Thursday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to drop in, meet staff, and explore the new Foundry Burns Lake centre.
