Terrace is set to join communities around the world in the Take Back the Night movement on Thursday, October 9th, with a march and candlelit vigil to raise awareness about sexual violence and support survivors.
Hosted by the Ksan Society and the Violence Against Women in Relationships (VAWIR) Committee, the event invites people of all genders and ages to stand in solidarity with victims of gender-based violence.
The event begins at 4:00 PM at Chill Soda Shop, with a peaceful march through the community leading to George Little Park. There, participants will gather for a community event and candlelit vigil, wrapping up by 6:00 PM.
Take Back the Night is an international campaign that shines a light on the reality that many women and gender-diverse individuals feel unsafe at night. The movement seeks to reclaim public spaces and promote safety, respect, and healing.
Organizers hope to inspire action and awareness while offering a space for collective healing and advocacy.
Community members are encouraged to come out, walk together, and stand up for a future free of sexual violence.
