The Prince Rupert Regional Hospital is now home to a new Visiting Specialist Clinic, improving access to specialized healthcare for residents across the North Coast.
Launched in 2025, the clinic was made possible through a $108,000 contribution from the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Community Investment Fund. The funding helped fully equip the facility with medical and IT tools needed to support visiting specialists.
Located on the hospital’s renovated fourth floor, the clinic has already hosted 34 in-person sessions with 20 different specialists, offering services across 10 medical fields. These include cardiology, neurology, rheumatology, pediatrics, urology, and more.
Over 1,400 patients have been registered so far, and nearly two dozen additional clinics are scheduled into early 2026—well beyond initial projections.
The new clinic not only brings care closer to home for the nearly 20,000 residents of Prince Rupert, Port Edward, and nearby Indigenous communities, but it also strengthens efforts to recruit long-term healthcare professionals to the region.
By offering better access to in-demand medical services locally, the clinic is playing a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of the region.
