Premier David Eby is leading a mission to Ottawa this week to advocate for more federal investment in major infrastructure projects that support British Columbia’s growth. The visit, taking place from September 17 to 18, includes meetings with Prime Minister Mark Carney and other senior cabinet members. Key discussions will center on securing funding for nationally significant projects like LNG Canada Phase 2 and the Red Chris Mine expansion. These initiatives are expected to create thousands of jobs and drive economic growth across the province.
In addition to infrastructure, Premier Eby will raise urgent issues related to public safety, including gun violence, extortion, and intimate-partner violence. He is also pressing for more federal support on immigration and housing matters. Alongside Eby, several B.C. ministers, including Brenda Bailey, Ravi Kahlon, and Ravi Parmar, will participate in the talks.
Eby emphasized that British Columbia’s infrastructure projects are vital to Canada’s broader economic success and urged the federal government to invest in the province’s potential for growth, particularly in sectors like clean energy, technology, and critical minerals. This mission follows recent trade and investment trips to Asia and Europe by B.C. leaders.
