The federal government is investing $350,000 to improve rural transit systems in British Columbia, with funding directed to seven key planning projects across the province.
In Dawson Creek, the City will receive $50,000 to conduct a transit feasibility study, aimed at assessing the current and future transit needs of the community. The District of Fort St. James will also receive $50,000 for a feasibility plan to create a community-accessible transit service, addressing critical transportation gaps. Additionally, the Village of Telkwa is set to receive $50,000 for a transit framework that will help identify and address local transit issues, with the goal of creating a comprehensive plan to improve service for residents.
These initiatives are part of the Rural Transit Solutions Fund, a program designed to support rural areas in assessing their transportation needs and creating solutions that enhance mobility. By supporting these projects, the federal government is helping these communities plan for better, more sustainable transit options in the future.
