A property on the 3200 block of Munroe Street in Terrace has been cleared after years of safety concerns, criminal activity, and unsightly conditions. The Terrace RCMP, Fire Department, City Building Inspectors, and Bylaw officers worked together to evacuate the residents, disconnect utilities, and secure the building.
The property had been under scrutiny for some time, with multiple reports of fire hazards, illegal activity, and deteriorating conditions. In May 2025, the Terrace Fire Chief issued an order for immediate action, giving the property owner a 30-day period to address safety concerns. However, conditions only worsened over the following months.
On September 9, authorities evacuated the property, removed fire hazards, and boarded it up to prevent unauthorized access. The public is being asked to report any suspicious activity to the Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400.
The City of Terrace is working with higher levels of government to secure more efficient tools to deal with properties like this in the future.
