The Board of Education for School District #52 is reaching out to Port Edward and Prince Rupert families to gauge interest in a new child care program. The proposed program would be available for children ages 36 months to 10 years old, offering care during regular school days at Port Edward Community School.
If approved, the program would run from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each school day, with extended hours for early drop-offs and late pickups if needed. The program would be held in a single classroom, split into two age groups: children ages 36 months to 5 years and children ages 5 to 10 years. A total of 20 spaces would be available, with 10 children in each group.
The program would be licensed and fees would be in line with other child care programs in the region. The start date for the program depends on the level of interest from local families.
