September 8, 2025, marks the 18th anniversary of the disappearance of Bonnie Marie Joseph, a 32-year-old woman from the Yekooche First Nation in British Columbia. Bonnie was last seen hitchhiking from Vanderhoof to Prince George on her way to a critical court date on September 8, 2007. She had been fighting to regain custody of her five children but never made it to her appointment.
Bonnie’s family reports that her disappearance was completely out of character. They were particularly troubled when her wallet and ID, along with an uncashed cheque, were found near a lake but no new information has surfaced. Despite ongoing investigations, the case remains unsolved.
Bonnie’s case is part of the larger issue of missing Indigenous women in the region, including the Highway of Tears, where numerous women have gone missing over the years.
Anyone with any information about Bonnie’s disappearance is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
