The province has approved funding for a new middle school in Kelowna, adding 800 much-needed seats for students in the growing Glenmore neighbourhood.
Infrastructure Minister Bowinn Ma says the investment will help ensure families have the schools they need as the community expands.
The Burtch Road Middle School will cost about $101 million and include culturally responsive spaces designed in consultation with Indigenous communities.
Central Okanagan school board chair Julia Fraser says the project will ease pressure on existing schools while strengthening connections for students and families.
Since 2017, the province has funded nearly 4,400 new student spaces in Kelowna, with more projects still to come.
