On August 15, 2025, the Fort St. John RCMP Street Enforcement Team concluded a drug trafficking investigation with the search of a hotel room near 93 Avenue and 100 Street. The search followed the arrest of two males, aged 20 and 21, who attempted to flee from police in the hotel parking lot. Their vehicle was found with drugs, cash, and two loaded handguns, one of which had been converted to fire fully automatic.
RCMP executed a search warrant at the hotel room, recovering a significant quantity of drugs, more cash, and a third firearm. Investigators determined that both suspects were from outside the province and were operating a drug trafficking operation in Fort St. John.
Sergeant Ian Rissanen of the Plain Clothes Unit expressed concern over the firearms, particularly one capable of automatic fire, noting the serious risk posed to the community. He commended the Street Enforcement Team for their swift action in removing the suspects from the streets. Both males were released from custody pending charge approval as the investigation continues.
RCMP continue to target the illicit drug trade in Fort St. John.
