Houston RCMP are continuing to investigate a serious assault that occurred on August 12, 2025, in the 2000 block of Pearson Road.
The victim sustained severe trauma and required urgent medical care. With BC Emergency Health Services on the way from Smithers, RCMP requested assistance from the Houston Health Centre. RN Carrie Stumpf quickly coordinated support, and both RN Brennan Mckone and Student Nurse Adah Smaill responded to the scene.

In recognition of their dedication, the RCMP presented Stumpf, Mckone, and Smaill with Certificates of Appreciation and RCMP Challenge Coins. The awards were delivered by Detachment Commander Sgt. Ryan Fillmore and Operations NCO Cpl. Tyler Cullimore.
The Houston Volunteer Fire Department also assisted during the emergency and was publicly thanked for its role.
