Alberta Williams, 24, was last seen in Prince Rupert, BC, on the night of August 25, 1989, after spending time at a bar celebrating the end of her seasonal cannery job. By September 25th, her body was found 37 kilometers east of Prince Rupert near the Tyee Overpass. Alberta had been sexually assaulted and strangled.
Her family was devastated by the loss, and while initial police investigations were conducted, the case quickly went cold. Alberta’s murder remained unsolved for years.
In 2006, Alberta’s case was added to Project E-PANA, a task force investigating missing and murdered women along British Columbia’s Highway of Tears. In 2017, Alberta’s brother, Francis Williams, erected a memorial cross at the spot where her body was found, in the hope that it would prompt someone to come forward with new information.
The Williams family continues to seek justice. If you have any information, please contact the RCMP.
