The Fort St. John RCMP is investigating a string of crimes targeting local barber shops and is asking for the public’s assistance.
The first incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on July 5, when a barber shop near 96A Street and 93 Avenue was broken into. Surveillance footage captured a suspect inside the shop.
A week later, on July 12, two more shops were hit in the early morning hours. A barber shop in the 9200 block of 100 Street was set on fire just after 3:30 a.m. Shortly afterward, another barber shop in the 9800 block of 93 Avenue was vandalized.
Investigators believe the July 12 incidents are related. A white flat-deck pickup truck was spotted leaving the scene of the fire and arriving at the second location minutes later.
Police have released images of the suspect from the July 5 break-in, along with photos of the vehicle involved in the July 12 crimes.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or the truck, or who has any information about the incidents, is urged to contact Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8100. To remain anonymous, tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers online or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS.
