Kitimat RCMP responded to several notable incidents between July 24th and 30th, including an assault, a hit and run, and a long-term cryptocurrency scam.
On July 24th, a vehicle traveling along Columbia Avenue was hit by a white SUV that pulled out of a driveway and fled the scene. The SUV was not located.
Later that day, officers were called to a fight in the 100 block of City Centre. A man was found with facial injuries and another man was arrested for assault causing bodily harm. He was later released with conditions.
On July 25th, police directed traffic at Haisla and Lahakas Boulevards after a vehicle suffered a wheel failure and blocked the intersection.
A single-vehicle crash near Hirsch Creek Bridge was reported on July 26th. The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries after the vehicle ended up in a ditch and airbags deployed.
On July 28th, a senior reported losing significant savings in a cryptocurrency scam that had gone on for nearly two years. RCMP referred the case to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
Finally, on July 30th, a man with an outstanding warrant was arrested downtown. Suspected drugs were found during the arrest and seized.
