Prince George RCMP and the Canadian Cancer Society sadly confirm that Shane Kelly, a community cyclist and supporter of the Cops for Cancer Tour de North, died on July 10th from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run incident on July 7th.
Shane was training alongside an RCMP officer when the collision occurred. Both riders were seriously injured, and the driver was taken into custody shortly after. Shane was known for his dedication to cancer fundraising efforts, including Relay for Life, Wheeling Warriors, and Tour de Cure.
This tragic loss deeply affects Shane’s teammates, the Cops for Cancer community, and the RCMP, who have expressed profound sorrow and support for the families involved.
The investigation remains active. Authorities urge anyone with dash cam, surveillance, or phone footage from near the incident to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
