Vanderhoof RCMP have arrested a man after a break and enter at a residence on 4th Street Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to the scene around 2 p.m. on June 22 with a report that the suspect may be armed. Officers responded immediately and quickly located a man matching the description provided by the caller. A high-risk arrest was carried out without incident, and no injuries were reported.
During a search after the arrest, police found an imitation firearm, which was later confirmed to be a BB gun. The man was taken into custody and has since been released by the court on multiple conditions. One of those conditions bans him from being in Vanderhoof.
RCMP say they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to public safety. The investigation remains active.
Police are asking anyone with additional information to come forward and contact the local detachment.
The Vanderhoof RCMP say quick response and community assistance played a key role in safely resolving the situation.
