LNG Canada is advising Kitimat residents that intermittent but significant flaring will continue through the weekend as part of its ongoing plant commissioning and start-up process.
The company acknowledges the flaring — including the light, smoke, noise, and visible flame — may be concerning for nearby residents, and says it remains committed to open and respectful communication with the community.
LNG Canada notes the current flare rate is the minimum required to safely support operations, and that flaring is a provincially regulated safety measure used during specific phases of facility start-up.
