Premier David Eby’s trade mission to Asia is set to boost B.C.’s economic ties with key markets. The 10-day tour, which included stops in Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea, brought together a delegation of 19 companies, universities, and industry associations. The mission focused on promoting B.C.’s clean energy solutions, critical minerals, forestry products, and agrifoods. Key discussions with government and business leaders centered on B.C.’s role in supporting energy transitions, including hydrogen and LNG opportunities. Additionally, B.C.’s agrifood sector received significant attention, with officials meeting major retailers and importers in Japan and South Korea. A highlight of the mission was fostering academic partnerships, with B.C. universities signing agreements with Korean institutions to enhance research and innovation. As part of B.C.’s Trade Diversification Strategy, this mission aims to grow the province’s economic presence in the Indo-Pacific, reducing dependence on the U.S. and opening new doors for trade and investment.
