Prince Rupert has added three new transit shelters thanks to support from the BC Transit Shelter Program. The shelters are now in place at Prince Rupert Hospital, Kootenay and McKay Street, and Charles Hays High School — all high-use locations.
Mayor Herb Pond says the upgrades respond directly to public feedback from the City’s Transportation Plan and are designed with accessibility in mind.
The City helped fund the project through its 2023-2024 budget, with concrete pads installed earlier this year. The shelters offer much-needed weather protection and improved comfort for local bus users.
