Ellis Ross, the new Conservative MP for Skeena-Bulkley Valley, has entered federal office with a comprehensive support package. His financial package includes a salary of $209,800 and a $429,600 budget for running his office. With his riding’s large size, additional allowances, including $78,480 for geographic supplements and travel-related expenses, have been allocated to Ross.
Ross is no stranger to public service, having served as Chief of Haisla Nation and as a B.C. Liberal MLA. His key priorities in Parliament will include promoting economic development, improving public safety, advocating for Indigenous rights, and addressing addiction recovery. He made waves in his first House of Commons appearance by challenging the Liberal government’s energy policies. Ross argued that the energy production cap threatens Canada’s energy sector and risks economic decline, citing potential job losses and a reduction in GDP. He called on the Prime Minister to scrap these policies and support sustainable growth for the country.
