We’d like to clarify a mistake in a previous report regarding Meziadin Lake Provincial Park’s campground. The campground is open, but due to heightened grizzly bear activity, only hard-sided camping structures are permitted at this time. Soft-sided tent camping has been temporarily restricted for safety reasons. BC Parks is working to address the bear activity through aversive conditioning techniques, and the BC Conservation Officer Service is investigating illegal bear feeding reports along Highway 37. Feeding bears is not only dangerous but illegal, with penalties including fines of up to $100,000 or jail time. Anyone witnessing or having information about illegal bear feeding is urged to report it to the RAPP hotline at 1-877-952-7277. For updates on the status of the campground, please visit the BC Parks website.
