It’s been nearly 14 years since Madison Scott vanished from Hogsback Lake, and nearly two years since her remains were found, but the case remains unsolved.
RCMP confirmed that there are no new developments in the investigation, which is still active and led by the Major Crime Section’s Special Projects Unit in support of the Vanderhoof detachment.
Scott was just 20 years old when she went missing in May 2011 after attending a friend’s birthday party. She stayed to camp alone after her friend left. Her sudden disappearance was deemed suspicious from the start, and foul play has not been ruled out.
In May 2023, police confirmed her remains had been found on a rural property east of Vanderhoof—close to where she was last seen. A search warrant was executed, but no suspects have been publicly named.
The Scott family continues to offer a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and charges. They describe Madison as a kind, loyal, and vibrant young woman with deep ties to her community.
Anyone with new information is asked to call RCMP or Crime Stoppers. Police emphasize that even the smallest detail could help bring closure to the family.
